Quick update
Although not much has been going on, boy are the weeks just flying by. As you've prolly seen from the mob, went to my first Tigers game of the year where they won 2-1.. yay!! Other than that, not too eventful, been working ALL the time, but its all good.
Went to Island Lake recreation area on Sunday with John for the first time this year and rode 22 miles. I must say that trail, each and everytime I ride, is always amazing. It is a flat trail which allows you to cruise along comfortably at 15-20 mph. There are two loops: Blue - a few longer climbs, non-technical, mostly hardpack and yellow - slightly more technical, with a few quick downhills, and a couple switchbacks. Check it out.
For the holiday weekend, doing the norm: heading up to Lake Charlevoix and having our typical family reunion at my Aunt's place in Boyne. Always a ROCKIN' fun time up there with all my cousins in stuff, look here for a summary of it along with pics on my moblog! Hopin to get some mountain biking in up at Boyne Mountain, we'll see how that goes.
Just a quickie for tonight folks... peace.

-Backing up and burning your DVDs-
When they first came out, DVD burner drives were very expensive; now they have been out for a while, and the prices have come way down. With prices ranging around $60-75 for 2-4x burners, there really isn't any reason not to get one.
To make good use out of your DVD burner, there is a program called DVDShrink which can be used to backup and burn your DVD collection.
1. First put your DVD you wish to backup/burn into your DVD drive.
2. Open up DVDShrink and click Backup!.
3. Choose the directory to backup the files.
4. You can also choose to burn directly to DVD all in one process. To do this, click the Burn tabe and choose which drive to burn to. (Note: If you are using the same drive to read and write, it will prompt you to insert a blank DVD into the drive after the backup is complete)
This is a great way for backing up DVDs that you own.. or *cough* rent.
Also, if you have movies that you have in other forms besides the actual physical DVD, there are way's in which you can convert them using some different programs to make them burnable. Check out this awesome article at afterdawn.com which explains extensively what to do and which programs you will need (it also has download links!).
Someone told me that Blockbuster offers blank DVD cases for real cheap if you just go in and ask, haven't tried it out yet but if you are looking for a way to safely store your backups of DVDs, this just may be the ticket.
Enjoy!

Like a freight train
Its been a while... time for the update-
It feels like the summer is going by at light speed. I remember lugging my macaroni colored futon matress down the basement like it was just yesterday and now its already been over a month since I've been home, with 4th of July right around the corner. If someone were to ask me what I have accomplished in that time, it would be one word: work. Each week seems like a blur. Anyways...
Thursday we took a break from the routine of watching the Piston's at Conor's house and decided to go watch it on the big screen at Emagine theatres in Novi. All I can say is wow, what an amazing theatre. Besides having the biggest screens I've ever seen, every seat is like a lazy-boy rocking chair and there is no bad seat in the house. They also have waiters/waitresses who come around during the movie (or for that case Piston's game) and take drink and food orders; it remind like you would see in a play or show in Las Vegas! Needless to say, very cool.
Friday through Monday consisted of the usual routine: work all day and watching late night talk shows till I fall asleep. I'm sure most of you know, but for those of you who have been living under a rock, game 5 of the Detroit Piston's vs. the Los Angeles Lakers came to an end Tueday night and we were officially named NBA World Champions!! Way to go Stons'!! :-) I was very happy with the way we played in all three of the home playoff games at the Palace but thought we really showed the Lakers our strength as a team in game 5. At the start of the second half of the game, it seemed as though the Lakers knew in their heads they had lost and gave up; we were hitting dunks left and right. Truly a great series though and a great victory for the Piston's and for the city of Detroit.
Nothing new today, worked all day although I didn't do a whole lot; the rain usually keeps away the customers. Going to lift in a bit with Scott and then same thing tomorrow. My days off on Friday and Sunday will probably amount to not much productivity with a whole lot of relaxing and taking it easy... what I do best! Might consider updating the website if I can come up with the will and desire, we'll see what happens!

Cookout time
Last night was the Detroit Piston's first game in the NBA playoffs against the Lakers so we decided to have a cookout at Conor's house which was put on by Scott and I. We had:
- Baby spinach salad with dried cherries and roasted almonds with a homemade white wine raspberry vinaigrette dressing
- Home made beer burgers on the grill (Hamburger, 1/4 cup Labatts beer, garlic, worchestershire sauce, and minced onion)
- Baha Fresh tortilla chips with Baha salsa
In an awesome attempt with great effort, the Pistons defeated the LA Lakers in the first game of the series 87-75. I think this is a great way to start the Finals for the Piston's, giving them confidence right from the beginning. I know it is going to be a great series and I think that each team will really start battling it out head to head in game 3.
Today I was able to get out with Conor and play 9 holes at Tanglewood Golf Course. Such a beautiful day today, sunny skies about 87 degrees; perfect golf weather here in Novi. Well I'm off to work the afternoon shift and then it's probably another allday everday week at the good ol' bike shop.
By the way, look for pictures from yesterday on my website sometime soon.
